I agree - awesome movie. I felt kinda embarrassed asking my friends to see it (at 24, I'm guessing I'm not exactly in the movie's targeted demographic), but they liked it a lot too!

20. D, because global warming is eliminating polar bear habitat. Number of offspring is irrelevant if habitat goes. 17. I like B. :) You don't need diversity for food crops, nor recycling of raw materials, nor is it the same issue as global warming--in theory you could stop that by planting plenty of just a few tree species, while switching to nonfossil fuels. While it may be necessary for medicines, basically I think diversity should be maintained for its own sake. The world wouldn't be as interesting without a lot of cool exotic species like rhinos, crocs, sharks etc.

The polar bear numbers are increasing. How about if everybody, tomorrow turns vegetarian? Wouldn't that be wonderful? All the cows, chickens and pigs would be slaughtered within a month. Several species of domestic animals are on the verge of extinction, and many have gone extinct. Where were their supporters? We should get real on this topic. And for yacket above me: If you want to restore the natural balance of nature, all humans should go extinct. The fact that we exist and are encroaching on their habitat means we are upsetting the balance and culls are necessary to maintain a healthy population. Lifes cruel. We don't live in a Disney movie set.

A humpback whale can survive just fine in freshwater. It will not take in water and explode. The main reason the whale dies in freshwater systems is that there is no food for it there, the freshwater is much more shallow and the whale becomes sunburned and there are typically boats, people and land surrounding it which stresses the whale. Also, the pH of the freshwater is different which can irritate the whales skin, leading to parasites taking hold and stressing the whale. The whale is also probably is poor shape when it enters freshwater, which could be why it dies in the first place.

If polar bears are in danger of extinction because the arctic is melting, can we move them to Northern Canada? Would any government institutions, corporations or billionaires (Canadian or American) be willing to save polar bears by buying and sectioning off parts of northern Canada as a new habitat for polar bears? I just thought of this and I'm not sure how possible it is. I'm just throwing the idea out there.

It depends on where you live. In my county there are more than a few local residents with their own landing strips which allows them the right to keep a plane on the property. Others have created airport communities where your home has access to an airport and the hanger is next to your home. However if you live in a seedy residential area perhaps the plane can be stored partly dismantled on your drive way if the local ordinance permits, but you would never be able to assemble it and taxi to the airstrip.

I loved the movie too. The main message was not that anyone can cook, but that a cook (a great chef) can be anyone, come from anywhere.

Biodiversity decreases. Polar bears, eat seals. Assume polar bears go extinct, there are now more seals, because there's one less predator to hunt the seals. Now what the seals eat, will decrease in population, so say a type of fish reduces in population, then people cannot eat that type of fish as often. It doesn't seem that significant, but let it grow over time... and see what happens.
